Rishta for Sale ~ A Must Watch Short Film

Accha rishta, shareef khandan, kamao beta, shareef aur masoom larki, chand sa chehra, gol gol rotis, ghar bananey wali bahu….

Nahin nahin. nahin…

Nahin bhai, not discussing a drama plot or a describing our quintessential desi drama heroine, rather this one about Rishta For Sale, the latest short film from Teeli, the same people who brought us the delightful Darzi Ki Marzi.

Though beautifully garbed in humor, this one is a scathing commentary on the desi thought process as the larkey ki amma goes out in search of an anmol ratan for her not so anmol beta.

Parveen Akbar is fabulous as the amma, but it is Faizan Shaikh who really impresses here as the rishta salesman. All in all this one is beautifully scripted and directed, and manages to say so much more than our so-called social issues waley serials do in 25+ episodes. This one is a keeper, just like these gol gol rotis

Watch and enjoy and share  if you have experienced or heard of similar rishta [horror] stories!

  1. That was absolutely savage! So much reality delivered with such humor and biting sarcasm. I enjoyed the heck out of it.

My only small complaint was that I just really wish this was five times longer, lol.

  2. Amazing that was outstanding…in just 5 mins they managed to convey everything from cousin package to clearance to medical student,. Excellent.. I am in awe of writer..👏🏻👏🏻 thanku for suggesting

    • @Rehmat: Haha!! I am sure kaafi cheezain dil ko lagi hongi 😉 I was nodding my head along with guy as he ticked off the qualifications for a suitable bride — It was all so true to life. I cannot even begin to tell you how many variations of similar lists I have heard from aunties and ammas around me!

  3. I’m amazed. I didn’t think it was possible to cover the absurdities of our expectations when looking for partners for our children in 5 minutes. Bravo!
